The Geotextile Sand Filter (GSF) product from Eljen Corporation is an advance wastewater treatment and dispersal technology. The GSF consists of a proprietary filtering process that applies treated effluent to native soils; this increases the long term acceptance rate by diverting biological growth away from the native soil.
What separates the GSF from other technologies are the Primary and Secondary Treatment Zones. The Primary Treatment Zone, consisting of the GSF module, filters septic tank effluent through the modules proprietary design providing increased surface area for biological treatment. Open air channels, within the module, support bacterial growth on the module’s fabric interface.
The Secondary Treatment Zone allows the effluent leaving the module to be dispersed onto the Specified Sand layer beneath the module. Effluent passes through the GSF and slowly drips into the Secondary Treatment Zone supporting unsaturated flow and providing further treatment.
The Eljen GSF’s unique design provides treatment and dispersal in the same footprint while keeping installations easy and maintenance minimal. Independent tests based on NSF/ANSI Standard 40 Protocol have shown that the system provides advanced treatment of septic tank effluent to better than secondary levels.
